So I’ve been thinking about this topic a lot lately and as I grow my business I want to make sure I’m transparent with the girls I’m working with! I started my fitness journey in 2013 just out of college. I wasn’t super active before that but I found Tone it Up and instantly got HOOKED.
Tone it Up is ran by two amazing women Karena & Katrina. I LOVE everything about them, their message and their program. I have made amazing friends and continue to learn more and more about fitness and nutrition through their channels everyday.
However, in 2016 I felt like I couldn’t keep up. I was feeling pressure to exercise an hour + per day. Feeling pressure to run. Feeling pressure to lift weights. Feeling pressure to STOP eating cheese. I felt pressure to no longer eat lunch meat and ice cream and foods I enjoyed. So after living that way for 3 years I decided after I got pregnant that I couldn’t live that way any longer. I felt guilty every time I had a meal that wasn’t “TIU Approved”.
I learned how to eat right through their program. I learned what foods were good and what food were “bad”. I learned what foods fuel my body and which ones make me feel sluggish and gross and resentful.
Thanks to their nutrition plan and fitness program I was in shape and at a healthy 130 lbs. BUT I never looked muscular I just looked thin. I never really felt good – I was angry because I was hungry ALL THE TIME. What a crappy way to live. This program works amazing for some women but for me with my increasingly busy schedule and lack of time to get to the gym and lack of time in general I needed something NEW and more productive that didn’t make me feel guilty all the time.
Que my Beachbody introduction. I’ve of course, like all of you, have always been aware of Beachbody. I’ve always know that P90X, Insanity, and T25 were all part of the Beachbody world. I just never really knew how it related to ME. I wasn’t interested in those insane workouts because I didn’t really know much about them. I felt like I needed the guidance of TIU but the workouts were getting old…
I started checking out the Beachbody OnDemand site and fell in LOVE instantly. There were easy ways to organize the workouts based on my level of comfort, experience, and time constraint. Perfect! I was pregnant at the time and needed modifications like crazy – and GUESS WHAT – every single workout offers modifications. I felt relieved to know I could still do a workout but now I could modify and still sweat and be safe while growing my baby. Beachbody was an amazing resource for me to get my workout in prenatal and postnatal and even today!
I started my postpartum journey about 3 months after having my son. I went slow at first with some modifications and slower workouts like Country Heat and modifiers for T25. Then in December I started with 80 Day Obsession. I lost 15 lbs. with 80 Day Obsession while taking care of my 5 month old son and working full time. Then I bounced between programs until about June when I started LIIFT4. I lost 10 lbs with LIIFT4 in the 8 weeks of the program. Most importantly I am STRONG. I’m doing 15 lbs reps! I NEVER got higher than 5’s before.
I decided when I signed up back before having my son in May 2016 that I was going to be a Coach. I LOVE health and fitness and it’s something I am well versed on because of all the research I’ve done. So, I started coaching. I am still coaching and am absolutely loving it.
Coaching gives me the opportunity to pour into other women and create content that I know I needed while going through these years of disappointment. Coaching allows me to be there for other women and inspire them to make time for themselves – to know that they are WORTH IT too.
If you’re questioning your current fitness routine, or need some sort of guidance – don’t hesitate to reach out to me. I’ve tried all of the programs from Weight Watchers, to LG Fit, to Kayla Itsines and TIU. I’ve tried online workouts and programs and videos and in person classes. Beachbody has been the ONLY program that I’ve been able to stick to, get consistent results and fit into my hectic lifestyle.
Don’t be afraid to try something new. The path to achieving your goals is right in front of you – you just need to take the first step!
